Watches & Wonders is one of the most highly anticipated watch shows of the year, and Two Stitch Straps was thrilled to be a part of it once again. This year's show was full of exciting releases, and we are excited to share some of our favorite ones with you.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of TAG Heuer’s Carrera series, the brand decided to completely reinvent the Carrera chronograph in two different configurations, and in four different colors, resulting in four new watches. The color options give the watches very contrasting looks - on one hand you have the undeniably modern looks thanks to the blue. On the other hand, the black styles invite you to a time where the past meets the future.
Grand Seiko revealed their mechanical chronograph, the Tentagraph. According to Grand Seiko’s research, “with the new Tentagraph, Grand Seiko adds a new dimension to its range of sports watches and opens a new chapter in its history.”
Tank Françaises, Tank Louis Cartiers, Cartier Tank Américane, Tank Normale, and of course, various Cartier Clash jewelry pieces are among this year’s wonders. In the watch industry, Cartier has one of the most distinctive design languages. Because of this, many of the brand’s designs still have a very distinctive appearance despite being around for decades. The Tank is arguably the most well-known design. The reinvented Tank Américaine and the new variations of the Tank Louis remind us that less is more and it’s all about the details - which means Cartier remains the classiest among the classiest. Even though new Tank Louis Cartier collection is all about glitter, gold, laquer, and mosaics.
A. Lange & Söhne revealed their first ever self-winding chronograph offering, the Odysseus Chronograph. The creation of this masterpiece took six years of rigorous research and development. This remarkable chronograph also marked the debut of the L156.1 DATOMATIC calibre, which features an reset-to-zero function and a novel dual-function. The Odysseus Chronograph boasts a diameter of 42.5mm and a height of 12.2mm. This limited edition timepiece is exclusively available in A. Lange & Söhn’s boutiques and only 100 pieces will be released.
Patek Philippe has announced a range of timepieces that include both new models and revamped classics. Among these is the Patek Philippe 5905R chronograph, which is a self-winding hybrid of two of the brand's earlier complications. This watch features a concave bezel and hollowed flanks that are beautifully highlighted by the rose gold finish. Patek Philippe has also introduced another stunning addition to their Aquanaut Luce women's collection, which is designed to showcase the "sporty chic" aesthetics of the brand. This timepiece does not have any gems, and the polished rose gold offsets the satin-brushed finish in a sleek and sophisticated manner.
Overseas Moon Phase Retrograde Date marks the brand's first foray into sports watches with a retrograde display. This timepiece perfectly combines technical sophistication with aesthetic principles, achieving a remarkable fusion of form and function. The watch incorporates an astronomical complication, paired with a retrograde date display, which is a signature element of the Maison. The Overseas Moonphase Retrograde Date features a sporty yet elegant case, measuring 41mm in diameter and 10.48mm in thickness, and houses the in-house, 5.4mm-thick Calibre 2460 R31L/2.
And for last, a few releases from Rolex. There’s the new New GMT‑Master II in yellow gold and rolesor; and the Perpetual 1908 with an 18 ct yellow or white gold case. Its name is a reference to the date the “Rolex” trademark was registered. There is also the Cosmograph Daytona with Several touchups for its 60th anniversary. On the version in 950 platinum, recognizable by its ice blue dial, the oscillating weight is made from 18 ct yellow gold and is visible to the wearer through the transparent case back in sapphire. And let’s not forget about the Yacht‑Master 42—in Titanium, which is mastering lightness, according to Rolex.
