Two Stitch Straps at Watches & Wonders 2022

After two (very long!) years without watch fairs being held in person, we were extremely happy to visit Watches & Wonders Salon in Geneve earlier this month. It sure came back with more style than ever! Most of the big names were there, although we certainly missed brands like Omega, Longines and Breitling.

Brands like A. Lange & Söhne, Cartier, Grand Seiko, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Oris, Panerai, Patek Philippe, Rolex, TAG Heuer, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, Zenith, and many others unveiled their latest creations. We had a chance to try out most of them firsthand (and on our wrists), and we’re happy to share our impressions with you. We are presenting you our favorites.

Rolex introduced several interesting models, of which the GMT-Master II „Destro“ certainly draw the most attention, with it’s crown positioned on the left side of the case, and specific date position at 9h.
Air-King got a new case and revamped dial, which is a noticeable improvement in our opinion. Yacht-Master came out with a 42mm yellow gold case, Day-Date got a new platinum case and bezel, while ladies Datejust got a new floral dial.
Tudor, the sister company of Rolex, unveiled some exceptional novelties this year. Black Bay GMT S&G comes with an amazing design, although the size and thickness of the case are rather on the large side.

That’s why our favorite is the Black Bay Pro 39mm as the case size seems perfect on the wrist. The overall look revives the old-school aesthetics of the Rolex Explorer II 1655.

IWC presented new Pilot’s chronographs with ceramic cases in different colors.

Grand Seiko introduced several new models including Kodo Constant-Force Tourbillon with astonishing movement and price of 370.000 euros.

Zenith brought their new Chronomaster Sport models in gold and steel-gold combinations, with the El Primero movement.

Oris came out with the new Pro Pilot X models, with an in-house movement and really interesting textured dials in three different colors.

Patek Philippe showed us two new models with a strong vintage vibe: 5326G-001 and 5226G-001 both have granular dials evoking the feelings of a vintage camera.

They’ve added a new Salmon dial variant of Perpetual Calendar with the 5320G-011 reference. Moreover, they have created new models with stunning green dials, including the new 5205R Annual Calendar.

Vacheron Constantin introduced the new 222, which was definitely one of the biggest hits of Watches & Wonders 2022.

The first 222 was designed back in the 1970s by Jorg Hysek and the new model draws a strong connection to the old one.

A. Lange & Söhne updated the Odysseus line with the new variant in titanium. The new model is even more sporty, but the highest attention to details has been given.

Grand Lange also got an update with a slimmer case and new dials. The Richard Lange Minute Repeater is the most prestigious novelty though, coming with a platinum case and an amazing minute repeater function, and it’s limited to 50 pcs with 409.000 euros price.
